A total of 8 teams have successfully reached the Round of 16 stage in the ongoing 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup held in Argentina.
On Friday, Uzbekistan and Ecuador became the latest teams to secure their places in the Round of 16. Ecuador dominated Fiji with a resounding 9-0 victory in their final Group B stage match, while Uzbekistan defeated Guatemala 2-0 in their final Group A stage fixture.
In other matches played on Friday, the host nation Argentina displayed their strength by overpowering New Zealand with an impressive 5-0 win, and the USA secured a 2-0 victory against Slovakia.
As a result of these Friday group stage matches, Ecuador secured their spot in the last 16 with six points from three matches, while Uzbekistan advanced with 4 points from the same number of matches.
These two teams joined the ranks of Argentina, England, Nigeria, Colombia, USA, and Gambia in the Round of 16 stages. The remaining final group stage matches will take place today and tomorrow.
The Round of 16 fixtures are scheduled to commence next week.
